Love Quidditch? We’re looking at why it is important to muggles!

Quidditch is pretty amazing but we, as muggles, can’t really play it according to the rules in Harry Potter. But why is it so important to us?

Yesterday, the Quidditch Premier League played their final and it made me realize that we love the sport. Not because it brings us closer to the Harry Potter series that we love so much, but rather because it is fun!

If you look at the trend of muggles playing Quidditch, you can see that most college campuses (especially in the United States) have their own teams. I know that it was my favorite part about walking across campus. You’d see the teams playing and a man dressed in all gold running around pretending to be the Snitch.

Now the Premier League is a big deal but it is still all about playing this sport that we made up. In the books, Quidditch is played on brooms with magical flying balls to help aid the game. We as mere muggles cannot have those things as a luxury.

We have to make do with normal balls and running around with brooms between our legs. Or some don’t even bother with the brooms. Still though, it is all just fun. We all embrace the love we have for this series and run around playing a sport that probably makes us look a little crazy. But until we can figure out magic and playing brooms, this is the best we, as Harry Potter fans, can do.

Go out there and play Quidditch. It is our right as Harry Potter fans to enjoy the sport. And honestly, it really is fun! You get to catch a man pretending to be the Snitch. What’s not to love?
