Game of Thrones season 7: Here’s what you need to listen to on the soundtrack

The full Game of Thrones season 7 soundtrack has already hit streaming sites like Spotify, and that includes songs we haven’t heard yet.

Ramin Djawadi’s Game of Thrones soundtracks help take the show from good to great. It was true with “Light of the Seven” last year, which I at the time called one of the best pieces of music on the show (still true, but now there are some competitors), and it’s true again this year. Although the season hasn’t actually come to a close just yet, the entire soundtrack is available on sites like Spotify, as detailed in an HBO press release that focused more on the Facebook partnership to turn you (yes, you) into the Night King.

Now, unfortunately, there are no real spoilers to be had in the titles of the tracks, but we think we might have figured out the song that will either play over the closing scene of the season 7 finale or the credits themselves.

Give a listen to “Winter is Here”:

Sound familiar? Yes, that’s the theme of the show, just slowed-down to something awfully somber. It’s time to get ready for what’s probably going to be a downer of an episode.

However, that HBO press release we mentioned earlier also confirmed that this track, “The Army of the Dead,” makes its debut in the finale:

Again, that’s not a really big spoiler, but it’s more than five minutes long. That implies that, as we supposed in our analysis of the release of the Night King on Facebook, that we’re going to see something of the undead in the episode. The length implies that whatever might happen (and if you’ve been paying attention, you might know already) is going to be worthy of a season finale, especially since it builds to a crescendo about three minutes into the track and then quiets down, but remains menacing.

It also certainly helps that that track is chilling, if you’ll excuse the pun.
