Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris are both expected to attend Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.

Although Swift’s attendance hasn’t officially been confirmed, rumors are swirling in regard to a possible performance of her upcoming single (which will reportedly be released on Friday, August 25) — or even a duet with her longtime nemesis Katy Perry.

While the possibilities listed are nothing more than speculation at this point, a run-in with Harris is a real possibility for the singer and on August 23, Hollywood Life explained why.

“If Taylor Swift decides to make an appearance, will she be sitting near her hunky ex?! And does this mean we’re in for the inevitable awkward encounter?!” the outlet asked.

Calvin Harris will be seated at the front of the audience at The Forum

According to Hollywood Life, Harris will be seated behind Canadian singer Alessia Cara and beside Julia Michaels.

“So, if Taylor were to show up (she is about to be promoting new music after all!) then it’s hard to imagine these two won’t find themselves in seriously close proximity,” the outlet explained.

That said, Harris is said to be an expert at avoiding any sort of headline-grabbing antics and even when he and Swift were dating, he didn’t engage in any red carpet appearances with his fellow musician.

Taylor Swift dated Calvin Harris for 15 months

Swift and Harris began dating after hitting it off at the 2015 Brit Awards in London. Then, in spring of the following year, the couple called it quits and she quickly moved on with actor Tom Hiddleston.
