Shailene Woodley was on the front lines protesting the Dakota Access pipeline and she’s not done changing the world yet.

She’s already a hero in the eyes of many after using her celebrity status to stand up for Native Americans and others who opposed the Dakota Access Pipeline back in October. After spending some time working for Bernie Sanders during the 2016 presidential election, Shailene Woodley says she has been considering a life in politics.

To be specific, Shailene has been considering a future run for Congress. Congresswoman Woodley has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?

Shailene opened up to the New York Times about her plans for a possible run in the future. It all went down when the actress called in from Fiji to talk about her Emmy nomination for the HBO hit series Big Little Lies. Although impressive, it isn’t just Woodley’s acting skills that make her one of the most admirable women in Hollywood.

"“There was a point last year when I was working for Bernie Sanders where I thought, ‘Huh, maybe I’ll run for Congress in a couple years,'” Woodley confessed.  “And you know what? I’m not going to rule it out. Who knows? Life is big, and I’m young.”"

At just 25-years old, Shailene Woodley is proving to be one fierce female. Although she’s best known for her work on the trio of Divergent movies and won an Emmy nomination for her role on Big Little Lies, Woodley’s political activism is nothing to scoff at.

In addition to her work on the front lines of the NoDapl protests, Shailene was a huge part of Bernie Sanders’ campaign. Just last year she was traveling all over the United States in support of Sanders, working to convince others that expanded health care for all and increased minimum wage are worth fighting for.

Shailene Woodley is highly revered as a political activist and was even named to the People’s Power List by the Sierra Club. She’s an environmentally conscious, racial justice warrior that wants to see fairness and equality for all.

While it’s pretty clear that Shailene will stay involved in issues that she believes in, a run for Congress in a few years to further make her mark. With as much heart and conviction as Woodley has, she should run.
