15 pets named after pop culture that you can adopt right now

Every fur baby deserves to be loved, even ones that are on the older side. Ariel is a senior chihuahua with congestive heart failure and blindness in one eye, but she is super affectionate once she’s bonded with someone. She’s also adorable. This old girl has a totally boopable nose and a beautiful white fur coat; she’s also got the some of the cutest ears we have ever seen.
Senior dogs have some of the lowest adoption rates, which is awfully sad. No animal deserves to live out their final years in a shelter; if you want to adopt a pet, senior dogs need your love just as much as their young counterparts. Don’t discount a dog like Ariel!
While we can’t prove Ariel was named for The Little Mermaid, we’re willing to bet this Tijuana-born cutie wants just what Ariel wanted: to be part of your world. Growing up in Mexico and now living in San Francisco means Ariel probably likes the sunshine; just like our favorite mermaid, she’s bathed in light in her adoption picture and looks absolutely angelic.
Family Dog Rescue is participating in Clear the Shelters this weekend, but encourages anyone who wants to meet Ariel to fill out an adoption application on their website. If you’d like to head to the shelter on Saturday, see their info below.
