The women of Thor: Ragnarok are going to get in on the action

Thor: Ragnarok has a new image that involves a new character taking on a more familiar face, and it portends well for the movie.

We already knew that Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie would show up in Thor: Ragnarok this November.

But with a name like Valkyrie, we had to hope that she’d go into battle as her namesake figures did in Norse stories … and like the comic book version of her. And with CBR speculating that Sif will also make it back to the movie (and maybe even fighting together with Valkyrie), we have to worry if the action scenes will give both of them plenty of opportunties to fight alongside the Hulk and Thor himself.

Fortunately, Entertainment Weekly is here to reassure us that yes, Valkyrie’s going to get at least one chance to strut her stuff:

Is it just us, or does Loki look a little fascinated at Valkyrie going not only for his fabulous hair but also his neck? Valkyrie, meanwhile, looks like she is not happy.

It’s apparently not just us. EW quotes Thompson as saying the following in relation to this photo:

"“There’s a thin line between how much [Loki and Valkyrie] hate and love each other.”"

Time to set those eyebrows waggling, because, as ScreenRant has reiterated recently, the word is that Valkyrie is supposed to have something going on with Thor, not his adopted brother. Hopefully Marvel won’t fall into a love triangle trap here.

The other question is: what prompts the two of them to pull out two sharp weapons each (you can just see the grip of another blue knife in Loki’s hand on the far right side, and Valkyrie has a second blade flat against her forearm)? Did Loki say one too many things that got on her nerves? EW seems to imply that with Thompson talking about “one-liners” and “cheekiness”. However, the “one-liners” appears to encompass both characters.

It’s all very interesting, but we’re here for Valkyrie kicking some butt in Thor: Ragnarok.
