Game of Thrones meets Star Wars: Watch as Arya and Brienne duke it out with lightsabers
By Buckie Wells
Somewhere far away in another dimension, there’s a buddy-cop show called Game of Stars, where basically Arya and Brienne fight for justice with lightsabers.
Remember when Arya Stark went blind and kept getting her butt kicked by that little handmaid girl and we were all bored out of our minds? Well, Arya’s vision is back and she spends a lot of time kicking other people’s butts now. In “The Spoils of War,” we watched as she went toe to toe with Brienne of Tarth, one of the most skilled swordfighters in Westeros. Though they arrived at a stalemate, we did enjoy a couple of minutes of swordplay.
To remind everyone that things are always better with lightsabers, you can now watch Brienne and Arya’s fight remixed with lightsabers and fun clash sounds. Since the idea for lightsabers came from regular swords and stuff, it makes sense that most of Arya’s movements seem natural. However, I’m not sure if I agree with the fact that she’d have a purple lightsaber.
Check out the video below:
I kind of like that the sword hilts stayed, but I’m not sure how I feel about the lightsaber staying ignited when it leaves the user’s hands. That part bothered me.
However, this video scratches the itch of anyone starving for another proper lightsaber duel. Like, I’m talking Revenge of the Sith stuff here. If the originals felt story-driven instead of action-packed, the prequels made up for the clunky narrative with their lightsaber duels. The Force Awakens had an amateur fight at the end, but I’m dying for more lightsabers in The Last Jedi. Also, please don’t at me about the epic ending of Rogue One. It’s a) not a saga film and b) a tremendous Star Wars outlier.

In other news: does it bother anyone else that Gwendoline Christie did more for Star Wars with this HBO show’s fan-made film than she did in the entirety of The Force Awakens? No? Just me?
