Song of the Week: Today Was A Fairytale

Sometimes Taylor Swift has the perfect fairytale song and this week we’re featuring one. “Today Was a Fairytale” is our song of the week.

“Today Was A Fairytale” was featured in the film Valentines Day where Swift also played a role as the girlfriend of Taylor Lautner’s character. It’s a sweet movie and the track makes it even sweeter to watch.

Swift wrote the track before the film and previously offered it to the producers of the film Musically. It was produced by Swift and Nathan Chapman, released on January 22, 2010, under Big Machine Records.

The track became the singers first ever No.1. It also debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Swift knew the track didn’t belong on her upcoming album, which is why she thought it would be perfect for the soundtrack. ‘When this movie opportunity came about, I reached back into my pocket and thought, ‘I think this is perfect for the soundtrack. I hope it’s perfect for the soundtrack'”, Swift told The Tennessean. Well, she was certainly right.

Some critics even claimed that they thought the song was the best one of the entire soundtrack. Of course, it is, after all, this is Taylor Swift we are talking about. We love the track and think it’s a magical piece in Swift’s discography.
