Game of Thrones: Two men in India have reportedly been booked for leaking episode 4
Two men who work at the Mumbai-based firm that stores and processes Game of Thrones have reportedly been booked for leaking the series’ fourth episode last week.
When Game of Thrones’ fourth episode of season seven officially aired last Sunday night, some viewers had already seen it. The episode had leaked earlier in the week, the second major headache for HBO following a separate massive hack that released episodes of other HBO shows, as well as emails and top secret scripts. Now sources are reporting authorities may have gotten to the bottom of at least one of those attacks: two men in India were booked on accusations that they leaked the episode.
Mid-Day.com reports that Abhishekh Ghadiya and Mohammed Suhail, employees of the Mumbai-based company that stores and processes Game of Thrones episodes, have been linked to the leak. Prime Focus Technologies, where the men worked, was able to trace the unauthorized access and emailing of the episode to their accounts. An FIR (essentially a criminal complaint) was filed against them for breech of trust, damage to a computer system, and more.
The news hasn’t gotten much buzz in the states yet, but HBO may be more focused on tracking down the hackers who claim they were able to access 1.5 terabytes of data from the company. The hackers in that case have been releasing their stolen information a little bit at a time and, if the amount they claim to have is true, they still have a lot to go in addition to the scripts and information they’ve already published.
Next: Game of Thrones season 7, episode 5: Who will die?
Are there more leaks coming? With only three episodes left this season, it seems if there are, we’ll be hearing about them soon.
