Game of Thrones: Rep the Realm collaboration features Westerosi skateboard set
The “Rep the Realm” project invites seven designers, who also happen to be Game of Thrones superfans, to create limited edition capsule collections. This week, the designer combined skateboards and Westerosi geography.
As we’ve proven in our weekly Game of Thrones fashion recaps this season, the characters in the Seven Kingdoms definitely have style. But it’s a very specific, fur-and-leather-and-armor kind of style. So it’s only fitting that the team over at HBO has invited a group of seven designers to interpret the show through each of their own artistic lenses throughout the show’s seventh season. HBO’s Making Game of Thrones site, which has been highlighting different works each week, posted the latest capsule collection of the project, officially called “Rep the Realm,” on Wednesday and instead of shirts or accessories, this week’s artist offered up work that was both art and mode of transportation.
This week, photographer and skating enthusiast Stephen Vanasco aka Van Styles of V/SUAL Apparel showcased his mini Game of Thrones-inspired collection: a set of skateboards that each feature a slice of a map of Westeros and Essos that line up to create the full map. “I wanted to make a piece that speaks to hardcore Game of Thrones fans but also can reach someone who may not know a lot about the show,” Styles told MGOT.
The set of boards is pretty sweet as an art piece, but what if you want to actually hit the pavement on yours? Styles is cool with that, too—he says he designed them to be hung on your wall, or actually ridden. It was also a smart sales move on Styles part to create a five-piece set to promote a gotta-catch-em-all mindset. Obviously, the vehicle of choice in the Seven Kingdoms is on dragon back, but a skateboard would probably be a close second (had they existed in Game of Thrones era, of course).
Previously featured in the project were Dee and Ricky Jackson of the brand Dee & Ricky, who came up with a collection of retro-looking pins of various GoT characters; as well as menswear label Carrots, that designed a super cute tee and tote featuring a line drawing of Daenerys Targaryen.

The collaboration is a cool idea in that it gives artistic fans a chance to showcase their passion for both design and the show. What designer would you love to see riff on Game of Thrones next week? Let us know in the comments.
