Taylor Swift has made an impact on so many lives, including ours. There’s something about the way Swift writes her music in form of diary entries. Honesty is her greatest weapon and the one thing we fell in love with way back when Swift first got started. Not to mention, the songstress excels at giving top notch advice to her fans whether it’s through a comment, an Instagram post or when she’s on stage. Her words are important.
The pop star is one to also bring lifelong friendships together. When someone bonds over her music, their friendship is instantaneous. There’s something special about a Swiftie bond that will be forever held in the hearts of her fans. We could go on and on about how much the singer has impacted several lives around the world.
While we can’t do that in one piece, we can do that in several. Which is why us here at Fans of Taylor are starting a little thing we call Swiftie Story Wednesday’s. This is where you, the fans have the opportunity to share how Taylor has had an impact on your life and how she’s inspired you.
This week we are covering a story from a fan all the way in Vancouver, WA:
Here is her story:
My name is Alex Wallway, I am from Washington State, and I have been with Taylor since the Fearless Era. I was 10 when Fearless came out, so she might have caught my heart at first with her fun beat and her “she wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts” lyrics, but she stayed with me as I got older. Why? I would say it’s because of her character first and foremost, but her lyrics began relating to me more and more as I grew up.
When I was a teenager and the boy that I had a crush on for 5 years didn’t notice me, I could sing “You Belong with Me” with tears in my eyes. Taylor’s songs become more meaningful as you grow older, even if at one time you fell in love with them because of the bass drop and cute words.
When I turned 17, I could look back and relate to the tragedy that is “All Too Well.” There was a time when I thought boys were hopeless and there was no hope for finding love in this world, but when I did I “watched it begin again.” She was there for me when no one else was. She was there telling me that after pain comes restoration. She was there telling me that someone else has been there too. I will never be able to thank her enough for the impact that she’s had on my life, because I can’t put it into words.
Taylor brings people together in such a beautiful way. Thousands of fans have found their best friends because of the family element that is the Swiftie clan. One of them being me. Last year, my friend told me about her best friend that was the biggest Swift fan she knew (they also became friends starting with a Taylor Swift song), she then introduced us. Even though she lives in Michigan, we bonded because of Taylor and grew very close. She is now one of my best friends and I might have not met her if it weren’t for Taylor.
Taylor isn’t beloved because she puts out hit after hit, she is beloved because of her hidden gems that every girl can relate to. She is beloved because of her brutally honest lyrics. She is beloved because she cares. She is beloved because she makes her story our story. No matter how hard other artists try, they will never have as great of a relationship as Taylor does with her fans. She makes it a priority to put them first, not only when she releases music, but also when she communicates with them online, prepares speeches at her concerts to make her audience feel loved, and provides free meet and greets by inviting the biggest fans to come back after the show. Taylor is nothing short of a legend, and she influences thousands of lives more than you know. A Hunger Games quote comes to mind, “Our lives are not measured in years, but are measured in the lives of people we touch around us.”
