The reunion Game of Thrones fans have been waiting for just happened
Early in Sunday night’s fourth episode of Game of Thrones seventh season, fans got to see something they’d been hoping for for seasons.
Warning: spoilers ahead.
It finally happened! Not too far into Sunday night’s episode of Game of Thrones, “The Spoils of War,” fans were rewarded for enduring seven seasons of their favorite characters meeting their brutal ends with a heartwarming reunion between the few characters who’ve managed to stay alive. A few heartwarming reunions, in fact.
Arya made her way back to Winterfell, and after a brief hold-up with some dumb guards who doubted she was who she said she was (in fact, they told her to “[bleep] off”), she entered the gates of her home for the first time in years. Thanks to the aforementioned dumb guards, Arya essentially let herself into the crypt where she first reunited with the statue of her father, Ned. It was there that Sansa finally got to see her long-lost sister again.
Their exchange starts with a typical snarky question from Arya on how she should address her now more-commanding sister, and a lopsided hug (Sansa wraps her arms around her sister, but Arya doesn’t return the affection). Arya quickly softens a bit, telling Sansa her new role as “Lady Stark” is fitting. Sansa then gets a smile out of Arya by telling her when Jon sees her again he’ll be so happy “his heart will probably stop”(and it wouldn’t be the first time).
The young Stark women then bond over their father’s statue with Sansa reminding Arya that the only people who knew Ned’s face are now dead and Arya correcting her: “We’re not.”
They certainly aren’t and minutes later the family reunion grows as Sansa brings Arya out to see Bran again, though she’s already hinted to her sister to be prepared for something to be off. Much like his initial exchange with Sansa when the two reunited last episode, Bran tells Arya he’s been keeping tabs on her with his Three-Eyed Raven powers. It’s creepy and awkward, but at least the fam’s back together again.

Now all we need is Jon, and maybe Nymeria, and the Stark family (what’s left of it, at least) will be stronger than ever. Will we ever get to that point? We’ll have to wait and see.
