Ohio: A Christmas Story
While not originally popular in theaters, A Christmas Story is now a classic holiday film. The story of Ralphie and his family resonates with so many people. From the turkey dinner disaster to the yearning for a special Christmas present, the holiday moments are extremely relatable.
Christmas Story fans and movie buffs can experience the actual house from the movie in Cleveland, Ohio. The original house featured in the movie is now a museum. Brian Jones, a fan of the movie, bought the property on Ebay, brought it back to its original appearance and turned it into a museum.
Located about five minutes from Downtown Cleveland, the Christmas Story House is open year round. A tour of the house features many of the favorite scenes from the movie. The museum features props from the movie, too. Also, fans can take advantage of iconic picture opportunities. Who doesn’t want a picture with the infamous “fragile” leg lamp?
In addition to the museum, fans can spend the night in the Christmas Story house. The upstairs loft space has a replica of Ralphie’s bedroom. The room offers two twin beds—Ralphie and Randy’s twin beds—and a sleeper sofa. Once the house/museum is closed for the day, guests can use the rest of the house. The cost for an overnight stay varies depending on the season, but rates start at $395.
Even if you don’t take a full tour of the museum, the house itself is easy to find and is a quick visit for anyone in the Cleveland area. A selfie outside the house could make a great Christmas card photo and could be the envy of all your friends. Official Red Ryder BB gun not included.
