We have our fair share of Star Trek villains, but Khan is the one that everyone seems to love. And now we’re getting a prequel series, it seems!
It seems as if our weird love of Khan may have paid off. For those who don’t know, there are rumors that a Khan series is in the works. Let’s first take a look at the real Khan. A man of color who was a super powerful man who tormented the crew of the Enterprise.
If you haven’t seen it, his appearance is what gives us the famous GIF of William Shatner screaming his name. But more than that, it also spawned a villain of the same name in Star Trek: Into Darkness. The problem there is that they tried to tell us that Benedict Cumberbatch wasn’t playing Khan. And more than that, they white-washed the role.
Beside the ups and downs this character has had, he has been a beloved figure in the Star Trek lore for quite some time. So for them to now come out with this prequel series about his life is interesting to say the least.
It probably comes because everyone is still riding the high that was Star Trek Beyond. A great addition to the film franchise, the movie brought to life everything we know and love about the series.
From there, we have Star Trek: Discovery coming out so why wouldn’t we want to see more Trek in our lives? And since Khan is the biggest baddy we know and love, maybe it is a good time to give us a show about him.
No matter what is actually happening with the show, it’d be interesting to see how they would portray the character. Would they combine the original Khan with the Benedict Cumberbatch version or just stick to Ricardo Montalban?
