Why July 31st is important: Happy birthday, Harry Potter

For every Harry Potter fan, today is important not only because it is when Harry first met Hagrid but because it’s Harry’s birthday!

Happy birthday, Harry Potter. Throughout the years we have had quite the time when it comes to July 31. From going to book releases to just celebrating Harry’s birthday on our own, fans of the Potter series know how important today is.

Our favorite Boy Who Lived got his first real birthday with Hagrid bringing him his letter to Hogwarts. He was important on this day at the age of 11 and, to us, it is just a very important day to celebrate our favorite hero.

So today on Wizards and Whatnot, we’re going to go through all our favorite Potter moments not just for Harry himself but for J.K Rowling as well (who shares a birthday with her beloved character.

From his sassy comments to his heroic acts, we’re going to count each and every moment why we love this boy. Because really, does anyone not love Harry Potter? (Well I’m sure there are people because let’s be real, Harry is the biggest drama queen of them all.)

Today is about honoring the boy who took on the darkest of wizards and made himself a household name by doing what is right. He taught us so much so it’s only fair that today, we make sure to give praise and thanks to the Boy Who Lived (and to the wonderful woman who created him).
