Hedwig: Why she is the best pet in the entire Harry Potter series

Now that we have even more wonderful creatures to love, it’s important to figure out your favorites. This is why Hedwig is the best pet of all.

Hedwig stuck through everything with Harry. From being trapped in a cage for most of the summer to sacrificing herself in the end to protect him, she was honestly an amazing pet. So we’re going to look at why Hedwig, the snowy owl who took our hearts, is the best pet in the series.

For someone who’s had a pet bird since I was 3, reading how Hedwig died made me cry for days. It is emotional and truly hit home. But I’m not the only one who felt that way. We all were emotional when Hedwig was killed saving Harry because we grew to love her just as Harry did.

She was with him through it all, especially in the books, and she was sassy and beautiful and loved Harry Potter just as much as we did. Hedwig wasn’t just some owl that didn’t care about her owner. If anything, she loved him most of all.

She was his constant companion and the one who would listen to anything and everything Harry said. She was his rock and a beautiful gift from Hagrid that lived on throughout the series and brought those two closer together.

So it’s easy, especially for me, to say that she is the best pet. She was there when no one else was and, in the end, protected Harry as she felt was her duty. Hedwig constantly was there for the Boy Who Lived and it makes her and exceptionally important character in the series.
