The friendship between James Potter and Sirius Black

While Ron, Hermione, and Harry are the friendship we long to have, there is a special bond between James Potter and Sirius Black that also means a lot.

Friendships in the Harry Potter series are extremely important but we all tend to overlook the amazing friendship between James Potter and Sirius Black. Not because of lack of trying, it just doesn’t’ really come to the forefront of our minds.

First, let’s talk about how James invites Sirius into his life like his brother. Basically Sirius Black’s family abandons him and it forces the Potters to adopt Sirius as their own. Which is amazing in its own way. They don’t have to take in this boy, but they do because of how much James loves him.

The two would do anything for each other and that is clear after James’s death when Sirius wants nothing but to avenge his friend. And then, in turn, take care of his friend’s son. To the point where I’m sure that if the time came, Sirius would have gladly died for James and vice versa. He did, after all, die for Harry to protect him.

But that’s not the greatest thing about their friendship. In reality, it is how much they support one another. Yes, as children they were pretty insufferable but really, who isn’t? These two continued to be best friends and helped each other out as adults and that was amazing to see.

For many, it helped show us that yes, our friends we make as children can and will stick by our sides.
