Politics: Don’t ever try and say that Donald Trump is a Gryffindor

facebooktwitterreddit

Many out there are trying to sort Donald Trump into a house and let’s be honest, he’s not a Gryffindor. Stop trying to say that he is.

As a Gryffindor, I can be testy about those who say that Donald Trump is a Gryffindor. First of all, he’s not. Gryffindors are brave and have courage. They also are the group who show their bravery in ways that almost make them seem reckless.

And here’s the more important part: they’re inherently good. Every Gryffindor we’ve seen has been working towards the greater good. And again, maybe it’s because I’m a Gryffindor and I don’t like seeing someone I don’t particularly care for being compared to my group.

Basically this tweet started it all. An article saying that Donald Trump is a Gryffindor:

Now here’s the thing, I wouldn’t even compared him to Slytherins. He’s not a magical being, plan and simple. Yes in the world of Harry Potter, we have all sorts of personalities and some of them are considered evil (looking at you Umbridge and Voldemort). But that doesn’t mean that our president would be a part of it.

I just don’t think he’d ever get that luxury. He wouldn’t be sorted and to say he’s a Gryffindor for whatever reason is a little idiotic. Not because it’s wrong (even though it is) but because he wouldn’t be there.

But yes, as a Gryffindor, I don’t agree with that assumption that Donald Trump would be one of us. We’re normally good, brave souls and I don’t really want us associated with him.

Next: Harry Potter memorabilia and what we all still have in our homes

So while politics have easy comparisons to Trump and this administration, let’s not. Unless you’re going to be honest about it. Trump would never even be a magical being so there’s no sorting necessary!
