Fans of Wonder Woman can rejoice because not only is the sequel confirmed but now, we even have a release date! We just don’t know what it’s about.
Amazons get ready to fight because Wonder Woman 2 is coming to theaters. But not really anytime soon. It was announced that the sequel will officially be hitting theaters Dec. 13, 2019. So I guess Friday the 13th isn’t a completely terrible thing after all.
Now here is the thing: we still aren’t clear on when the movie is set. There were reports that it would take place during the Cold War and that, in fact, Steve Trevor would return. Now, I have some theories about how that could happen and how I think it should happen.
First, please see this tweet:
So while there are sites, like Den of Geek, saying that Flashpoint will come in 2020, while Forbes said something about 2019 back in January of this year. If the plan is to actually bring back Steve Trevor into Diana’s storyline during the sequel, one of two things need to happen.
It either needs to be set in modern day where they can explain what happened to bring him back or it needs to happen after Flashpoint.
That’s the only thing that makes sense in the universe. At the end of Wonder Woman, it was clear that Diana had not seen Steve for the last 100 years. So if he suddenly is in a Wonder Woman movie set during the Cold War, it makes no sense. And believe me, I want Steve in this movie. I love Steve Trevor.

But don’t worry everyone, we have plenty of time to theorize what’s going to happen in the sequel. We have two and a half years to figure out exactly what we want to see of Diana Prince and honestly, I couldn’t be happier.
