Taylor Swift is an inspiration for many around the world, especially for 12-year old Luke Hogan Laurenson.
Laurenson was born with dystonic quadriplegia cerebral palsy. This means that walking for the young boy isn’t possible, that is until he heard “Shake It Off”. The track became his anthem ever since it came out, and can we blame him? While Laurenson has always been inspired by Swift’s music, this song, in particular, is the miracle worker that he needed. The song got up him from his wheelchair and gave him the strength to walk and dance.
At first, the boy swayed to it and then bounced, and now he’s dancing to it. The incredible impact Swift has always had on Laurenson’s life shouldn’t go unnoticed. He’s attended Swift’s Red Tour and called it the best day of his life, and not to mention, her posters are plastered all over his walls. To know that the pop star as inspired someone in an incredible way allows us all to step back and love her all the more.
The video of the 12-year old dancing was posted on the fundraising site You Caring to raise money for a new Talk Buddy – his health insurance won’t cover to buy a new on for another three years, and other medical equipment. His mom wants nothing more than to help her son, and what would help him more than a one-on-one meet and greet from Swift herself?
While his mom isn’t asking for a meeting from Swift, we know it would mean a lot to the family. But she does say that she wants the best for her boy. “Luke’s mom wrote on the You Caring campaign page: “Truthfully, I would rather do almost anything in the world other than asking for help. But I have an amazing 12-year-old son who has shown that his brain can heal.”
The family has already raised over $10k and is predicting to raise more. Do you think Taylor Nation and Swifties could help get the news to Swift? We think it’s possible. You can donate on the You Caring website and/or share across socials in hopes that Swift will see it herself.
