The Freddie Mercury biopic will leave out his AIDS crisis and we don’t get why

Freddie Mercury had AIDS but you apparently wouldn’t have known that from the biopic being made about him. They’re planning to leave it out completely.

Freddie Mercury died from pneumonia brought on by AIDS. Simple as that. So what does the new biopic about his life want to do? They want to omit the fact that Mercury ever had AIDS. You know why? Because I certainly don’t.

Here’s the thing: everyone knows that Freddie Mercury had AIDS. That’s kind of a big deal, especially with you’re a fan of Queen. Now the rumor mill is going and many are blaming the band for the terrible treatment of this biopic but I’m going to still go on a limb and say that you shouldn’t make something like this unless you’re going to be accurate.

Do you know how many people watch these biopics as fact? Do you know how many people watched Walk the Line and think they know everything about Johnny Cash? A lot of people. So for them to omit the AIDS crisis that would eventually take Freddie Mercury’s life is to set up a lot of people.

All those audiences are going to be watching a fake story. Are they going to just cover the early years of his life? Fine. Are they going to lie and say that he died of just pneumonia? Not fine. Why bother making the biopic in the first place then?

The replies on Twitter to this news are mainly speculating that it is Queen’s fault that this movie is ending up as terribly as it seems. They say the band wants it to be more about the band after Freddie’s death than actual Freddie. Which is funny because I, personally, only like Freddie Mercury Queen and I’m not alone.

This is just another “why is this even happening” moment in Hollywood. If they’re not going to make an accurate biopic of Freddie Mercury’s life, then they shouldn’t make the movie at all.
