The haters crying about a female Doctor on Doctor Who get the BBC treatment
We finally have a female Doctor on Doctor Who and all the haters can complain all they want, the BBC isn’t having any of your stupidity!
The news that Doctor Who was going to bring on a female Doctor swept the world this weekend. And of course, babies are crying about their precious Doctor now regenerating into a fierce lady. Why? Well, one Twitter user said that it was like watching your favorite character that you relate to change genders. He then went on to call it “sad.”
My response?
So now the BBC has been having to field a whole bunch of complaints from angry fans. Do they have reason to be upset? Absolutely not. Granted if Jodie takes on the role and isn’t something we expected then sure, we can be upset. But literally all we’ve seen is this teaser.
So if you’re mad that she simply isn’t a man, that’s sexist. Sorry. But it is (at least to me).
Your prejudiced complaints are falling on deaf ears
Because the BBC has been getting a lot of complaints about the casting, they took to the internet to release a statement about Jodie Whittaker’s casting:
"As the Controller of BBC Drama has said, Jodie is not just a talented actor but she has a bold and brilliant vision for her Doctor. She aced it in her audition both technically and with the powerful female life force she brings to the role. She is destined to be an utterly iconic Doctor. We hope viewers will enjoy what we have in store for the continuation of the story."
Want to know what’s great about this? They basically are saying that your complaints about something you haven’t even seen is not their problem. It’s your own.
Is it sexist to not want a woman Doctor?
Yes. At least to me, as a woman, it is sexist. Why do you feel like the Doctor can’t be a woman? The Master regenerated into Missy and she was absolutely incredible. Moffat even showed us a Time Lord regenerating from an old white man into a young African woman. And it was great.
We live in a world where we all want to feel included. For years we, as girls, only had the companions to look up to. While they’re amazing, it is a little heartbreaking to think that I never imagined that I could play the Doctor.
Never did I think I’d see the day when a woman took on the last living Time Lord (which isn’t true anymore but it’s still a cool statement).
Don’t come to the BBC with your complaints
So the next time you want to complain about Jodie Whittaker without ever having seen her Doctor in the flesh, don’t. You simply being angry because a woman took on the role is idiotic, in my opinion. And we all should be excited to see Jodie take on the role as Thirteen.

Jodie Whittaker will take on the role in the Christmas episode (according to sources) and we can’t wait to see what she does!
