5. The thunk heard around Dagobah

Which Star Wars film it happened in: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back

After Luke comes to terms with his fate as a Jedi and the path he must go down (though, as of The Last Jedi, are we sure he ever really came to terms with it?), he leaves his friends and travels to Dagobah. While he’s there, he finds the Jedi Master Yoda, who isn’t exactly as deft and nimble as he used to be. Really, I could probably make up a similar slider for how silly Yoda himself acted in his Dagobah scenes, too. Like, “Oh, I have something important to tell you, but I need a nap first. Also, let me eat all your food.” If you think about it, Yoda was practically the Jar-Jar of the original trilogy. We didn’t see the cooler side of him until the prequels.

Regardless, Yoda’s the only teacher that Luke can find. So of course, he begs Yoda to teach him the ways of the Force. Since Yoda’s already gone through a lot of grief with padawans, he senses that Luke may not be ready. As Luke argues with him and Obi-Wan through the Force, he visibly smacks his head on the ceiling of Yoda’s miniature hut.

I assume he was getting really excited. But why did he try to get up? Where was he going to go? He obviously can’t stand in there. Was he just repositioning himself, trying to get a little comfortable before going into full tantrum mode? Or … was the bump intentional to get him to re-focus on the bigger picture? Even if we go with the latter, it’s still funny to watch him knock his head around.
