Square Enix debuted a new gameplay trailer for Kingdom Hearts III at the D23 Expo that showcases a whole new world … filled with lots and lots of toys.
After seeing enough gameplay footage for Kingdom Hearts III, it’s hard to understand why it’s taking Disney/Square Enix so long to release this game. Most of the mechanics look exactly same. The longer they wait, the less nostalgia I hold in reserve to play this game.
However, if they’re spending all this time building a ton of new worlds, I’m there.
During the D23 Expo, Kingdom Hearts III dropped an entire five minutes of gameplay footage that sees Sora, Donald and Goofy dropped into the realm of Toy Story. And you know what? It looks great. The details are impeccable. The Toy Story world looks really polished, and considering how far the game has come from its 2002 beginnings, I think it’ll look really incredible on all the new systems.
Check out the new footage below:
Of course, everyone has been waiting very patiently for this game. There have been a few teases here and there, but nothing overwhelming. I’m sure by the time it comes out, it’ll be worth the wait … just as long as you remember Kingdom Hearts is a straightforward button-smashing game.
Most video games have evolved past that, but if you’re here for the story, you won’t be disappointed. Just take the dialogue, for example. Everything both Sora and Woody say is completely in character. Furthermore, you won’t just be stuck in Andy’s room (though, if you’ve been on the Toy Story Mania ride at Disney theme parks, being in Andy’s room is cool enough), but also able to explore outside.
