Batman’s the most prominent person in this new Justice League photo
Batman’s future film appearance in Justice League continues to provide plenty of teases for fans of the Caped Crusader, in more ways than one.
Since Ben Affleck is Bruce Wayne/Batman, for better or for worse, on the big screen for DC Comics right now, he’s obviously going to play big roles in the DC Extended Universe. He even manages to get a shout-out in Wonder Woman despite not actually showing up. (He sends Diana the glass plate showing her with Steve Trevor.) So, is it any surprise that more Bat-things continue to drop?
Take, for instance, Justice League, which comes out later this year. Today, Entertainment Weekly dropped a new photo from the movie, which initially looks pretty basic. It’s just Batman, The Flash, and Wonder Woman looking over at something, with three vaguely different expressions. Diana’s concerned, Bruce is stoic, and I think Barry’s looking at something else entirely.
But then you look again:
I feel like I’m about to ask this question for all of us: Why is Batman’s, uh, private Bat signal, so prominent? Look at the oh-so-carefully placed scratches on the suit! Many of them also point to the area in question. It’s perfectly framed between his fists. Also, EW emphasized The Flash’s presence here, but he’s half-hidden behind the Dark Knight.
No, this is a Batman photo, unfortunately.
In slightly more serious analysis, Wonder Woman’s bodice looks almost black in this photo, quite similar to her Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice look if not a little darker. There’s probably nothing to it, though.
Additionally, where are they standing? The Batcave? That underground facility that keeps featuring in the trailers? Some other somewhat nondescript concrete room? Maybe that’s why Diana looks so distressed, since the design aesthetic of this place is way worse than her gorgeous solo movie.
