Demi Lovato is back and has a lot to say about it in her new song, “Sorry Not Sorry,” and I am loving every second of it.
Oooh boy. I feel bad for whoever crossed Demi. She is
sorry
not sorry about the gut-punch song that just dropped that basically calls out all the low-down stuff they’ve done to her. SING IT, SISTER!
I used to consider Demi a sort of underdog. And who doesn’t love the underdog? But over the past few years, Demi has proven that she doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone, and this song adds to her repertoire of strong songs for strong women.
And what a voice! Her vocals are spot-on with the almost gospel-like quality to her sound. I mean, of course it’s pop music, but what makes Demi’s corner of the pop world great is that she has a powerful voice that makes heavy production and busy track layering unnecessary. It’s reminiscent of Whitney Houston… a little soul, a little R&B, and hip-hop lite.
Side Note: How did it take so long for us to get a song called “Sorry Not Sorry”? I mean, it’s practically a rallying cry for this generation.
Take a listen (you can buy it at iTunes) and be sure to check out the lyrics:
Yes. Yes, you heard that. It’s like a dis track minus the cheesiness (Katy Perry, I’m lookin’ at you). It makes me want to use all the hashtags.

Demi posted a pretty cool thank-you note to her fans Monday on Twitter saying she wants to spend more time meeting and speaking with her fans, learning about their stories. And that, my friends, is how you treat your tribe. So, even if you don’t want to like her, you pretty much have to now.

Go ahead and put me down for whatever Demi serves up next, and while I wait, I’ll just go ahead and throw this beauty on my summer jam playlist and wait
im
patiently.
