Netflix tweeted out a new teaser Tuesday morning for Stranger Things 2. Here’s what we can glean from the 25-second clip.
We can hear the synth-heavy theme song already. Stranger Things will return (we’re assuming they’ve just been hanging in the Upside Down since the season 1 finale?) on October 27 and as of Tuesday morning we’re getting another look at just what might be happening in Hawkins, Indiana.
There’s not much to see in the 25-second trailer Netflix released:
We know the year is 1984. We know all four boys (including the rescued Will) are back on their bikes trying to uncover the truth. We know they’re still in Hawkins. We know there seems to be some inclement weather (though that could be an entirely atmospheric choice for the teaser, not a plot point for the season). And according to the on-screen text, this season “only gets stranger.”
The streaming platform also released some plot information for the season. According to Pitchfork, Neflix said in a release:
"“It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the demagorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived.”"
We’re hoping the squad is able to dig a little deeper into those Hawkins Lab secrets this time around, as it was one of the more intriguing aspects of season 1. Judging by the longer trailer that aired during the Super Bowl, it seems like that’s definitely in the cards. That sneak peek also hinted at the fact that Eleven (nose bleed and all) did not in fact evaporate into thin air. She will be back, along with her prized Eggos. We also learned in the February clip that the boys are (obviously) big enough Ghostbusters fans to dress up in the ghost-busting uniform (we’re guessing for Halloween?), there seems to be more mysterious scenes in the lab in store, and there’s a pretty gnarly-looking creature lurking around town.
What do you think will go down in Hawkins in Stranger Things 2? Stock up on Eggos and let us know in the comments!
