Star Wars Forces of Destiny episode 7: Jyn Erso saved the Rebellion … and a space cat in “The Stranger”
By Buckie Wells
This Forces of Destiny episode gives us a glimpse at Jyn Erso’s heroism before she stole the plans to the Death Star and changed the course of the rebellion.
After worrying the fandom for several months leading up to its release, Rogue One debuted in December 2016 and instantly made itself one of the best Star Wars films. Though the premise of the film began in 1977, the story told in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story changed the way viewers saw the original trilogy. As heroic as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo were, Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor and their rebel team made the ultimate sacrifice to save the rebellion. In a period of dark times for the Republic, the Rogue One crew restored hope at a time when Luke Skywalker thought his biggest problem of the day would be the amount of sand in his shoes.
Perhaps what makes Rogue One most impressive is how much we all ended up caring about characters we’d only known for about two hours. The story began and ended, meaning we’d never have a chance to see Bodhi or K2SO again.
(However, to be clear, there are comics and companion works you can pick up, but I mean specifically on film.)
Thanks to Forces of Destiny, Lucasfilm has gifted us with two and a half more minutes of Jyn Erso’s compassion and ferocity. It turns out, our little Stardust made time to help people sometime between searching for her father and saving the galaxy. If you look at her “The Stranger” outfit versus what K2SO found her in, it’s clear this Forces of Destiny episode takes place during Rogue One. Plus, Lucasfilm already confirmed the series is contained within the context of the films.
Still, she pulled over to save a space cat … Watch below:

Actually, that looks like a Loth-cat. But based on its coloring and markings, it’s probably just a regular Tooka. Either way, I’ll just be over here investigating the timelines to see if Jyn Erso and Princess Leia could’ve been on Lothal at the same time or something … if you don’t hear from me in a few hours, send help.
