J.K Rowling receives British Order of the Companion of Honour
J.K. Rowling has been given another prestigious award. The British Order of the Companion of Honor to be exact! Certainly a well deserved award!
Not only has J.K. Rowling earned herself another award recently, but she earned it from the Queen! You read that right, Queen Elizabeth gave J.K. Rowling an award. I’m not sure if I’ve processed the whole thing yet.
The awards are given out biannually with the intention of recognizing exceptional work done by British and Commonwealth citizens. Over 1,000 people have been honored by this Birthday Honors list!
Why J.K. Rowling was picked
The Queen awarded Rowling due to her services in literature and philanthropy. This year is also extra special! It marks the centenary of The Order of The Companion of Honour. This is one of the highest honors to be given out by the Queen. Just when you didn’t think it could get any better! Not only was Rowling given an award by the Queen, but it was one of the highest awards one could be given by her!
This prestigious award has only ever been given to 53 other people. Just to name a few who have been honored in the past, we had Sir Ian McKellen, and Dame Judi Dench! There were eight people honored by the award just this year, besides J.K. Rowling. Among those is Sir Paul McCartney and Delia Smith.
When the awarding happens
There haven’t been many details on when exactly the awards will be given. We actually haven’t been told what the awards are going to be! But the suspense just makes the waiting sweeter. At least, that’s what we tell ourselves!
What we do know is that the awards will be given out later this year. So be on the lookout! We certainly will be! We’ll also be sure to let you know as soon as we learn a bit more about it!
