When it comes to big fandoms, Harry Potter and Star Trek are two of the biggest and Jason Isaacs is a part of both of them!

When it comes to extremely loyal fans, Jason Isaacs is no stranger. From Harry Potter’s Lucius Malfoy to Captain Hook to The OA, he sure does end up in a lot of fandom based works. And now, he’s taking on another juggernaut.

Jason is set to be a lead player in the new CBS series Star Trek: Discovery. The show, which has seen plenty of delays and insanity, looks to be one of the best in the Star Trek series. So what does Isaacs think about being a part of this new fandom?

Jason Isaacs sat down with Rotten Tomatoes and talked about his character in Star Trek: Discovery as well as what both these fandoms mean to those who love them.

"Well, the thing about Harry Potter is, people love it and are so deeply affected by it because it represents not just stories that they liked but [for] most, a lot of people’s entire childhood [as well]. And so there’s that magic that goes on too."

One could argue that that magic is there for Star Trek fans as well. As someone who grew up reading Harry Potter and who had a brother who loved Star Trek, I was one of those who loved both completely. But Jason does have a point.

For most Harry Potter fans, this series defined their childhoods and it makes Potter have a special place in all our hearts.
