Taylor Swift’s mom, Andrea Finlay, has likely helped mend her daughter’s broken heart in the past but when it comes to the singer’s new romance with Joe Alwyn, Finlay is reportedly keeping her distance.

Although Finlay certainly wants the best for her daughter, she’s not going to interfere with her growing relationship with the British actor.

“Any mother would find it exhausting to get invested in their daughter’s loves, only to have the guy disappear in a few months,” an insider explained to OK! Magazine on June 20. “She has bigger things to deal with, it’s not a good time for anything draining.”

Taylor Swift’s mom was diagnosed with cancer in 2015

In April 2015, Swift announced that Finlay had gotten screenings done as a gift to the singer and while she had been feeling fine before the tests, she got some troubling results.

“The results came in, and I’m saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer. I’d like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know,” Swift wrote in a blog post on Tumblr, via OK! Magazine.

How does Joe Alwyn’s mom feel about his high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift?

According to the first OK! Magazine report, Alwyn’s mother shares the same sentiments as Finlay and doesn’t want her son to get stressed out due to the constant media speculation in regard to his romance or the paparazzi attention.

“She worries about him being caught up in the stress of dating a superstar” the insider explained.
