If you haven’t reread Harry Potter, you definitely should! If you were to go back and do so, you may discover the clues J.K. Rowling left us along the way!

When it comes to the Harry Potter series, J.K Rowling didn’t leave us blind. Meaning she provided us with some amazing clues along the way to what would happen in the series overall.

The early years

There are many little clues and hints along the way of the Potterverse that when looked at closely, make us want to face palm that we didn’t see them the first time. Maybe the first time they weren’t meant to be found. Or I could just be saying that so I don’t feel bad that I literally didn’t see any of them my first time. Most I didn’t see on my second or third time either.

If you remember, Ginny made her family wait before boarding Platform 9 and 3/4 in The Chamber of Secrets because she had forgotten her diary. Rowling was emphasizing the importance of that diary. What would have happened if Ginny had never gotten that diary to Hogwart’s? Or wouldn’t have happened, as the case may be.

Remember Sirius Black being mentioned by Hagrid in The Sorcerer’s Stone? If you don’t, it’s because Hagrid talked about the man in passing. Hagrid mentioned that Sirius had loaned him the motorcycle to get Harry to the Dursley’s home safely. Didn’t seem like anything special at the time, but when you know about him later it makes sense. Sirius would do anything to keep Harry safe. It’s been that way since he was born.

That one hits right in the feels. Thanks J.K. Rowling.

The later years

There are definitely more and more clues in each book as the series go on. Let’s just highlight on a few of the most important ones or the favorites.

Remember that really heavy locket in The Order of the Phoenix? The one that Harry, Hermione, and Ron assumed was worthless, since none of them seemed able to open it? I’m sure you do, since at this point most of us had become suspicious of all the words on each page. If Hermione couldn’t open it, what good was it? Then we all lost our composure in The Half-Blood Prince when Regulus Black clued us in that it was a horcrux.

Everyone remembers Aberforth Dumbledore, first spoken of in The Goblet of Fire. He told Harry that his brother got into trouble for inappropriately practicing magic. Apparently it had something to do with goats. We probably don’t want the details. Then in The Order of The Phoenix, our trio head into the Hog’s Head and note that it smells distinctly of goats. Ding, ding, ding, guess who runs the place? Aberforth Dumbledore!
