American Gods episode 6 preview and synopsis: A Murder of Gods

American Gods is back for episode 6. Shadow and Wednesday just escaped custody. But  “A Murder of Gods” finds them jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

In last week’s episode of American Gods, Laura and Shadow Moon reunited, but were rudely interrupted by the police, who hauled Shadow and Wednesday away for bank robbery. Then Mad Sweeney caught up with Laura to ask for his coin and drop some truth about Wednesday.

Things seemed to get even worse for Shadow and Wednesday when they were kidnapped — while in custody in an interrogation room — by Media (as Marylin) and Mr. World, who pitched peace by merger.  Although Wednesday was having none of it, Mr. World let them go to think about the offer.

But the new gods ripped that police station apart, killing everyone inside. Odds are good that they’ll blame Wednesday and Shadow for the massacre. What are they in for during episode 6? Via Starz:

"On the run after the New Gods’ show of force, Shadow and Mr. Wednesday seek safe haven with Vulcan, God of the Fire and the Forge."

That’s what I mean by jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Vulcan is the Roman god of fire. But they also may be in trouble. Vulcan, like all the other old gods, does not seem happy to see Wednesday. Here’s the official episode 6 preview, via Starz:

"Vulcan: Trying to start a war?Wednesday: We’re at war already, and we’re losing."

So Wednesday probably also wants to recruit him as a pre-eminent expert. Also, bonus, because it looks like Vulcan has a lot of friends.

And then there’s that bit about human sacrifice and accidents. They say the devil’s in the details, but maybe they’re really just the same, in the end.

I bet Wednesday will have more to say about that in episode 6 of American Gods, A Murder of Gods.
