Friendship is what is most important in the Harry Potter series and it taught us that we can create our own families with our friends.

Harry Potter did a wonderful thing for fans when it came out. For many, we’re told that family is the ultimate relationship in anyone’s life. But some people do not get along with their family. So what does that mean for them?

Well, the series taught us all that our family is what we make them to be. For Harry, he created his family much like his god father and father before him. Look at the Marauders. Those four became each other’s family became many of them felt like outcasts.

Even with the Death Eaters, as messed up as they are, they are each other’s family. And the series shows us that we don’t have to subscribe to the idea that our family is blood. For Harry, Hermione and Ron are his family.

He doesn’t need to talk to the Dursley’s or consider them his only family. He can look to his friends and turn to them when he needs them and that’s beautiful. As children, we’re continually told that our family is who is our blood. But for many, those people do not understand them or accept them.

It is such an important message to share to young fans and J.K Rowling did a wonderful job creating that world for us to live in. We can chose who is close to us and that’s an amazing thing to realize, especially while growing up.
