Norman Bates – Bates Motel

Norman Bates’ inclusion on this list has be very conflicted. On the one hand, he is technically a psychotic murderer with multiple personalities and a tad bit of sociopathy. That alone should make him unlikeable enough, I know.

But on the other hand, he’s kind of an interesting character. All his affectations make him a fascinating guy to get to know. (Although, knowing what I know, I doubt I’d ever attend a dinner party at his house). From a generous distance, Norman could seem just like a kooky, eccentric neighbor, and not the nutball weirdo that killed his mom and wore her robe.

He dresses like a suburban dad in the 1950s, talks like a 19th century politician, and enjoys hobbies like taxidermy and casual walks. He’s so weird, it’s hard to not be completely interested in this guy.

But then again, there is the murderer part. And he’s also kind of a mama’s boy, which is probably the understatement of the century. He’s also a giant brat, losing it anytime anything doesn’t go his way. This is probably a direct result of the mama’s boy thing, but it can get grating when coupled with all those anachronistic personality traits.
