What happened to Luke and Moira?

Books tend to be better than shows at getting away with deliberate unanswered questions and ambiguity. The novel leaves Luke’s fate to the unknown, and Moira is never given such an in-depth role. But now that we’ve seen them in such detail, I have to know what happens to them!

We find out at the end of episode 6 that Luke is indeed alive, and perhaps has some connection with Mexico. That doesn’t make the situation a good one — what can Luke possibly do to help June from so far away? Is he even safe in Mexico, where the food and fertility situations don’t sound all that fabulous based on what its ambassador had to say? Will we ever see him again?

I’m not sure how the closure of a tearful reunion would affect the feel of the series as a whole. Atwood’s novel basked in its uncertainty, but longer TV series have the need to continually present answers alongside new questions. I want to see more of Luke and Moira, badly, and the excellence of the series so far gives me hope it will be handled well.
