Summer watchlist: Watch the 25 hottest new shows of the season
By Sundi Rose
The Mist – June 22
Starring: Alyssa Sutherland, Isiah Whitlock, Jr., Bill Carr, Holly Deveaux
Premise: Much like the movie, based on Stephen King’s novel, the show has some fog. If you didn’t read the book or see the movie, let me fill you in. The Mist is about a small town recovering from a brutal crime when a mysterious mist rolls into town. The mist creates widespread chaos and forces the most unusual allies.
The mist cuts the town off from the rest of the world, creating a vacuum inside the small community. This vacuum scrambles the town’s values and sense of morality, and forces them to reexamine how they conduct their society.
The buzz: So far, not much. Although, this year does seem to be the year of Stephen King. You can barely turn on the internet without seeing some reference to the It remake. The Nerdist theorizes on the below trailer, saying, “The basics are the same: there’s a mysterious mist, mention of the Arrowhead project, and people seeking safety in a store. But it also seems there’s more to it than that: the store is in a mall this time, and there appear to be many more locations. Are there actually monsters lurking?”
Where to watch: Spike TV
