Still Star Crossed – May 29
Starring: Lashana Lynch, Wade Briggs, Sterling Sulieman
Premise: Loosely based on the Shakespeare classic, Romeo and Juliet, the show picks up right after the lovers’ deaths. Its executive producer is Shonda Rhimes, so you know you’re going to get your fair share of tugged heart strings and love triangles.
It follows Rosaline Capulet and Benvolio Montague, who are betrothed to each other by order of the Prince. The idea is that the union of these two will end the bitter feud between the two families, but as you might guess, it doesn’t.
The show is based on a novel by the same name, and looks to feature a lot of gorgeous people behaving badly, like all of Shonda Rhimes’ shows tend to do.
The buzz: It’s still pretty early for critics to decide whether or not they like it or not. However, Shonda Rhimes could executive produce the Manhattan phonebook and we’d tune in every week. So, I’ve got high hopes for this period drama. I’m rooting for it to be my summer go-to.
