The Disney Channel is making a zombie musical love story

For some, high school is a major bummer. For the Disney Channel, it’s the opportunity to create a rollicking musical love story. With zombies.

The Disney Channel has always had a knack for producing original content. They make films that cater to the young and old. Though cheesy at times, (I’m looking at you, High School Musical), the entertainment value is off the charts. As they scour the world for newer and fresher talent, producers have decided to create another love story set in a high school. We’ll hear wonderful singing, as this new film is a musical, but something new is added to this stew: Zombies.

This original movie, aptly titled Zombies, is already in production. What we do know is that it’s set in the fictional town of Seabrook, which is basically Prepsville. Unbeknownst to the serene suburban town, students from nearby Zombieville are transferring into Seabrook High, and they’ve got to learn to coexist without a turf war breaking out. The story itself focuses on two star-crossed lovers (of course). Addison (Meg Donnelly) is a cheerleader who falls for zombie quarterback Zed (Milo Manheim). Amidst the chaos and confusion that is high school, they’re the ones leading the way in getting everyone to live peacefully, undead or not.

Since this is the Disney Channel, we can only assume there will be a lot of toned down blood and guts. Perhaps we’ll have a Twilight kind of deal and see “vegetarian” zombies instead. We also hope there will be at least one homage to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, the OG Zombie musical.
