As fans hope for a Taylor Swift sighting at tonight’s Met Gala, we are reminded of her infamous dance-off with Tom Hiddleston in 2016.

As Fans of Taylor previously reported, Taylor Swift hosted the 2016 Met Gala and during the event, Swift and Hiddleston appeared to hit it off while dancing to T.I.’s 2004 hit “Bring ‘Em Out.” However, because Swift was dating Calvin Harris at the time, no one thought much of their relationship — at least not until the following month.

On June 1, 2016, after about 15 months of dating, Us Weekly confirmed Swift and Harris had called it quits. Two weeks later, she and the Thor: Ragnarok actor went public with their relationship during an outing near Swift’s Rhode Island home.

Why did Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston part ways?

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston never confirmed the reason behind their decision to part ways. Instead, the rumor mill took over and suggested Swift had dumped Hiddleston because he was being too public about their relationship.

“Taylor felt he wanted to take the relationship to be too public,” a source told E! News, adding that Swift was unhappy with his approach and felt they were getting too much publicity.

Where is Taylor Swift?

No one knows for sure where Swift is at this time, but Hollywood Life claimed in March that she was splitting her time between NYC, Nashville and Los Angeles and spending tons of time in the studio.

“She has not been purposefully hiding out, but has simply been super busy in the studio recording, editing and putting the finishing touches on her new album,” an insider explained. “Taylor is excited to deliver the best possible music to all of her fans. Taylor has been working hard and she can’t wait to release new music. She laughs at the reports that she is missing and finds them hilarious!”
