Black Mirror – Netflix

Black Mirror is the best science fiction show ever. I’ll own that definitive claim, because it’s just that good. It’s a contemporary reimagining of The Twilight Zone, and it offers stand alone dramas that offer a satirical look at our modern preoccupation with technology and the hold it has on our lives.

Each episode offers an autonomous drama that takes on our collective anxiety about how much influence the digital culture has in our daily lives. Episodes range from unsettlingly familiar to wildly creepy and disturbing. One of the most topical and widely debated episodes, “The Waldo Moment,” is widely considered to have predicted the rise of Donald Trump.

Other episodes of note take on the controlling nature of social media and the “like” culture, artificial intelligence, and killer hashtags. If you want a show that will make you completely reevaluate your relationship with your phone, then check out Black Mirror.

Also, a really cool thing about this series is that you can drop in and out of the seasons, without watching in any real discernible order. Since each one is its own story, you can skip around, based on what type of scared you want to be that day.
