Grey’s Anatomy – Netflix

It’s hard to believe it’s been twelve years since we first met Meredith Grey and her squad of hapless interns. These days, Meredith isn’t so hapless, isn’t an intern, and only has a few familiar faces surrounding her. Over these years, we rooted for her, even when she didn’t really deserve it, and it’s kind of a surreal experience to go back and rewatch those old episodes, knowing what we know now.

Meredith Grey, as a character, has suffered more tragedy and hardship than anybody else on TV combined. I mean it. Her life is terrible. From bombs in patients, getting assaulted, friends dying, an airplane crash, and an insane amount of personal tragedy, she has it rough.

But she’s not the only one. No one who works at this hospital is immune. On top of all the terrible things that happen to the doctors, we’re also subjected to a weekly medical case that is sure to rip your heart out anew.

Grey’s Anatomy is absolutely full of suffering, yet we keep coming back for more. At least if you’re streaming it, you can pick and choose how you want to get your heart broken. Be very careful of seasons 5, 8, and 11. They’re particularly rough.

Starring Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr., and Chandra Wilson
