Parks and Recreation – Netflix

Parks and Rec has something for everyone. It’s a workplace comedy, it’s about friends, feminism, and finding yourself. Whether you like your comedy with a touch of sass or sentimentality, this show will hit you right in the sweet spot.

Parks and Rec debuted in 2009 and follows the lives of a group of city employees in the small town Pawnee, Indiana. Led by the effervescent and terminally lovable Leslie Knope, these folks took on all sorts of shenanigans. It was written by the same folks, and filmed in the same style as The Office.

Its documentary style gave us a lot of sneak peeks into the character’s “private” moments, and this insight gave us a lot of comedy gold. The show propelled the careers, and catch phrases, of most of it’s stars. We have Parks and Rec to thank for “treat yo’ self” and for offering the crotchety delight that is Ron Swanson.

Each episode is a digestible half hour each, so you can blow through episodes pretty quickly. By the time you get through all seven seasons, you’ll be completely invested in the government of Pawnee, not to mention all these folks’ lives. Be aware of the heart-tugging last episode. It will get you right in the emotional parts.

Starring: Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Retta, Adam Scott,  Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Rob Lowe and Nick Offerman
