And Here’s Johnny Depp Doing Something Crazy Again
Just when we thought Johnny Depp couldn’t get any weirder, here he is again, among Disney’s “Animatronic” pirates, in his Captain Jack Sparrow costume.
Johnny Depp donned his Captain Jack Sparrow costume once more and gave Disneyland park visitors quite a surprise on Wednesday. One such park-goer recorded the incident and posted it on their Twitter.
Certainly, no one on that boat seemed disappointed in that sighting. Depp was also perfectly in character as Jack Sparrow, even though he seemed a little uncomfortable around his robot counterparts. “This is the safe zone,” he explains to the tourists as they float through the vignette. And as the spectators squeal with excitement, Depp idly swings his sword and rocks back and forth on his feet.
The stunt is clearly to promote the upcoming film Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (aka Salazar’s Revenge) due to release in a month. The newest addition to the franchise will star Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem, with extended cameos from Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom and other celebs. Even Paul McCartney’s going to make a cameo, as a prison guard. Maybe McCartney was on the POTC ride too and nobody noticed because he was in the background clanking around in a jail cell! It’s hard to see past the phenomenon that is Johnny Depp.
As with previous POTC film releases, it seems like Disney is sparing no expense with this one either. Something about Dead Men Tell No Tales feels a little final, as if we’ve finally come to the last chapter of this epic story. However, according to Digital Spy, Bloom was asked about the future of POTC on The Graham Norton Show. He replied, “We’ll see. There’s room for more.” What could that mean?? Continuing work for all of our favorite, under-employed Hollywood stars? Let’s hope so! Why stop the fun now?
