David Thewlis is Set to Play the Villain Ares in the New Wonder Woman Film

Our beloved David Thewlis (Remus Lupin) is now taking on another franchise with Wonder Woman as he has been announced as playing Ares.

David Thewlis continues to be a great joy. Now he’ll be taking on the villain Ares in the new Wonder Woman film. For those who don’t know the story  of Diana Prince, here is what you need to know about her and Ares.

Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) is an Amazon warrior from Paradise Island, or Themyscira, and she comes to the world of men when Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crash lands on her planet. She goes back to help him with World War I and that’s pretty much what the film is setting up.

With Ares, we know even less. Ares, the is the Greek god of war, is a major villain in the Wonder Woman lore and it will be a major switch for Potter fans. We’re used to seeing him as a beloved figure in Harry’s life.

As a villain, to be quite honest, I’m not sure what to think.He’s a great actor so there’s no doubt in my mind about his abilities as such. He’ll do great in whatever role he is given. But we’re just so used to seeing him as Lupin. He was always that teacher that Harry could rely on.

Will our view of him throughout the series change now that we’ll see him as a huge villain or will it remain the same? We’ll just have to wait and see once Wonder Woman has been released.
