15 Differences Between the New and Old “Mystery Science Theater 3000”
We get a fun rap about killer monsters
I can’t say that I’ve seen every single episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 in its original run (I definitely have seen zero episodes from the first season), but I can say with some confidence that the old episodes have yet to give us a rap about killer monsters. In fact, has any episode given us a rap?
Before, we got songs like that one from Pod People and the ridiculous one from Girl in Gold Boots where the ship catches on fire thanks to Mike’s rain effect.
We are given a brand new Host song in just the first episode. One of the fun things is that the Host segments of the show are all done in one take with no camera breaks. Unless, you know, there’s a jump to the Mads and then back to the Satellite of Love.
So this particular monster rap is pretty darn impressive, especially when you think about the logistics behind it of puppeteers moving Crow and Servo and Vaughn and Yount off to the side moving their mouths while Jonah has to rap and move the cardboard cutouts of the dinosaurs.
Plus there’s a fun Barenaked Ladies shoutout included in the new rap.
