First Look at Henry Cavill on set of Mission Impossible 6 and the Rest of the Crew

Christopher McQuarrie is a generous guy, and as a demonstration of this, he’s given us the first look at Henry Cavill on set of Mission: Impossible 6.

Isn’t it weird how franchises like Mission: Impossible or Fast and the Furious have been around so long and yet continue to get people excited? I mean, there’s no way I’m the only person who gets giddy thinking about what death-defying stunt Tom Cruise or Vin Diesel will try to pull off next. With every passing year, technology gets better and stunts become less and less practical. But who cares? Blockbusters are meant to be fun.

We just happen to be so lucky that Mission: Impossible‘s storyline is also very, very substantial.

As the film’s director, Christopher McQuarrie, explained:

"“I’ve seen five of these movies and I don’t know who Ethan Hunt is. One movie sort of dealt with his personal life, the other movies are about people speculating what’s really going on in Ethan’s head. I want to know who Ethan is in this movie, I want an emotional journey for this character, and Tom really embraced it.”"

Obviously, it’s a series of spy movies. But again, like Fast and the Furious, it keeps things fresh with its cast roster and generous amount of explosions. This time, Mission: Impossible‘s ditching Jeremy Renner and picking up Henry Cavill. In my mind, it’s an upgrade worthy of its comparison in choosing Superman over Hawkeye. Admittedly, I’m a pretty big Cavill fan, both as an actor and as a dude, because he just seems so pleasant.

Just look at him.

Look at his sweet little parachute outfit and his big, burly mustache. Look how happy he is to be in Paris pretending to jump out of planes and stand next to Tom Cruise. Also, may I add how happy Tom looks as well? What kind of water are these lads drinking?

And you know what really compliments a good mustache? A badass chick preferably named Rebecca Ferguson.

Not only is Ilsa back, but she looks like she’s ready to rock ‘n’ roll. While I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing Henry Cavill play a villain, it kind of looks like he’s part of the squad. And hopefully, that means he’ll also be interacting with Ilsa.

At this time, McQuarrie’s only teasing us with photos instead of more concrete details, but I’m play with it.

Mission: Impossible 6 hits theaters July 2018.
