Rachel Green – Friends

Rachel Green was probably best known for “the haircut” when it comes to her appearance, but she became a fashion symbol for young women in the ’90s and early ’00s. She even worked in the fashion industry for heaven’s sake. Of course she’s going to dress brilliantly.

Rachel burst into Central Park wearing her wedding dress, after fleeing her wedding to a jerk she didn’t really love. Broke(ish) and trying to make it in the city, she took a waitressing job to make ends meet. (Even though everybody knows none of those folks would have been able to afford that apartment.)

As a waitress, she always had kind of a sporty look going, even though she wasn’t great at the job. Denim vests, short skirts and opaque tights were apparently the dress code for the coffee shop. As she matured (and made more money) her choices evolved into a more fun and whimsical style.

Towards the ends of series, she was an executive for Ralph Lauren, so she evolved to a preppy-street look that made her look effortless and cool. Rachel always seemed like the kind of girl you wanted to be best friends with, or at least go out with every once in a while.
