Ray Donovan – Ray Donovan
I don’t know when we starting wanting our heroes to be tortured and dark, but I’m certainly glad for characters like Ray Donovan. This man, at well over six feet tall, is about as imposing a figure as you can find in a suit, is as rakish and well-appointed as a boy from South Boston can get.
Transplanted to sunny Los Angeles, Ray never quite figured out how to adjust to the brighter coast. As a result, he dresses like I imagine he feels: tight chested, gloomy, and rugged. He layers black on black and he rarely wears a tie. They’re too constricting and probably remind him of all the men he’s had to strangle as a mafia fixer.
He may not love the confining nature of a tie, but when it comes time to dress up, he won’t hesitate to wear a tuxedo. In fact, I’m surprised he doesn’t have to buy a new one every time he has to go out. It seems like they would just spontaneously combust when he puts them on.
We rarely see Ray in a relaxed moment, but when we do, he transforms into a loving, caring family man who (mostly) wants what’s best for his family. I’ll admit, he’s a bit of a womanizer, but when you look like this, you must have to beat the women off with a stick.
