We Finally Have Our Young Dumbledore and it is Jude Law

The young Dumbledore casting has been something we’ve all feared and now it is announced that Jude Law will take on our iconic headmaster.

Variety announced this morning that Jude Law will take on Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series. And so far, the reaction from fans has been…interesting. Why? Because Jude was nowhere on our radar, to be quite honest.

The president of Warner Brothers, Toby Emmerich, had this to say about Jude joining the franchise.

"“As fans ourselves, we are thrilled to have Jude Law joining the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ cast, playing a character so universally adored. Jude has been a member of the Warner Bros. family for years and we’re excited to embark on this new adventure with him.”"

And really, I don’t like the idea of Jude playing Dumbledore because there are plenty of other actors who could take on the role who weren’t Alfie.

Now to be fair, that is a lot of my opinion. I do love Jude Law and his work so I think he’ll be a pretty good Dumbledore overall. But I also think Colin Firth would have been amazing and we also could have kept Colin Farrell as Grindelwald to make all of us happy.

But in the end, I trust Warner Brothers and their choices. They haven’t really steered us in the wrong direction before so whatever they’re planning, Jude must have been the best choice. Still though, it leaves an uneasy feeling and maybe there could have been a better choice.

Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what he’s like when Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 comes out.
